This reality began as a dream in 1993 while Scott Haines, the owner and potter of Bridges Street Pottery, was finishing his degree in fine arts. In 1997 Scott found the property on the corner of Bridges and 20th Street. The corner lot and the old church building were ideal for what Scott had in mind, A working pottery studio and gallery. Scott and his dad Joe Haines remodeled the building with an apartment Scott calls home. Scott moved to Morehead City in 1996 from North Dakota after completing four years in the fine art program at Minot State University, a teachers college in Minot, North Dakota. He became interested in pottery during an art class in the eighth grade. From his reading of pottery, observation of other potters and many opportunities provided by his teachers, Scott's passion for the art form grew stronger everyday. Since then, he has worked with stoneware, porcelain and raku mediums. Scott instructs
pottery at Carteret Community College.
